Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Actor in a Comedy Series

My Predictions
Alec Baldwin "30 Rock"
Steve Carrell "The Office"
Rob Lowe "Parks & Recreation"
Joel McHale "Community"
Matthew Morrison "Glee"
Jim Parsons "The Big Bang Theory"

Other Contenders - Matt LeBlanc "Episodes", Louis C.K "Louis", Johnny Galecki "The Big Bang Theory", Danny McBride "Eastbound & Down", Thomas Jane "Hung", Billy Gardell "Mike & Molly", Matthew Perry "Mr. Sunshine", William Shatner "$#!+ My Dad Says", Lucas Neff "Raising Hope"

Commentary - This race, losing Tony Shalhoub for good, and Larry David until next year, means there are some free spots to fill. Alec Baldwin, Jim Parsons, and Steve Carrell are shoo-ins, and are the top three contenders to win. My money is still on Carrell for his last season on The Office. Matthew Morrison is good, but really doesn't belong in this category. That being said, Glee is popular, he got nominated last year, and is sure to be nominated again. I think this will be a year for Joel McHale to get in as well. Community was shut out last year, but this category is weak, and the show is on the rise, so I say he gets in. For my final slot I am going out on a limb, and predicting that previous Emmy nominee Rob Lowe, who made a splash on Parks & Rec, will defy the odds and get a surprise Emmy nomination come Thursday morning.

  2. *James Roday should be nominated in place of Lucas Neff.

  3. I'm not sure about Danny McBride. I think that he is hilarious, but do Emmy voters even care about Eastbound and Down? I think it would be a huge surprise if he gets in.

  4. For some reason, I just don't think Matthew Morrison will get nominated. I think the voters are too smart to let that happen again.

Then I looked at the other options and there aren't many. I'm surprised by how weak this category is (considering how strong all the other comedy races are.) I think at least one cable actor will get in. Larry David is out, so it will either be McBride or Louie CK.

If I picked, James Roday would be nominated and probably win. I can always hope that since Burn notice got recognition last year, that this year will be the same with Psych. But that's just my extremely wishful thinking.

  5. If Morrison does get in, it is because this category is so weak, and not enough voters watch smaller shows like Episodes or Louie. I don't think he deserves to get in. If anything he was a supporting character this season and Chris Colfer was the lead. But, there is a good chance that he does.
