My Predictions
Shohreh Aghdashloo "Law & Order: SVU"
Ellen Burnstyn "Big Love"
Joan Cusack "Shameless"
Debra Messing "Law & Order: SVU"
Gretchen Mol "Boardwalk Empire"
Julia Stiles "Dexter"
Other Contenders - Jennifer Love Hewitt "Law & Order: SVU", Candice Bergen "House", Anika Noni Rose "The Good Wife", Maria Bello "Law & Order: SVU", Alfre Woodard "True Blood", Cara Buono "Mad Men", Jean Smart "Hawaii Five-0", Sarah Silverman "The Good Wife", Randee Heller "Mad Men", Marcia Gay Harden "Law & Order: SVU", Ann-Margaret "C.S.I.", Mary McDonnell "The Closer"
Commentary - Law & Order: SVU always gets a couple ladies in, and this year there are plenty to choose from including Marcia Gay Harden, Debra Messing, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Maria Bello. While all four are great contenders, the episodes suggest that Messing and Aghdashloo are its best bets. Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn could win this award, and at least will get nominated for her scene-stealing turn in the outgoing Big Love. Julia Stiles also made a splash this year on Dexter, and may get rewarded with her first Emmy nomination. Oscar nominee Joan Cusack is wonderful in everything, and her role in Shameless this year was top notch, so expect her to get rewarded for it. In the final slot I am going with the up and coming actress Gretchen Mol. Her name is starting to become more recognized, and her role on Boardwalk was baity. All of that being said, this is a category where I could see any of the six predicted, and any of the Other Contenders legitimately get in. So watch and see where this one ends up.
