Avatar: Fire & Ash
Frankenstein
Hamnet
It Was Just an Accident
Marty Supreme
One Battle After Another
Sentimental Value
Sinners
Train Dreams
Wicked: For Good
Other Contenders - No Other Choice, Jay Kelly, Weapons, Bugonia, The Secret Agent, F1: The Movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Nouvelle Vague, Is This Thing On?, Blue Moon, A House of Dynamite, Rental Family, The Testament of Ann Lee
Commentary - I didn't move anything yet in this category. No Other Choice is on the rise, F1 is going to be a craft hit, and Weapons is lurking. Is Wicked: For Good still in? Yes it got mediocre reviews, but it is still a huge hit, and I think its cast and technicals will still propel it to the top ten, at least for now.
Best Director
Chloe Zhao "Hamnet"
Jafar Panahi "It Was Just an Accident"
Paul Thomas Anderson "One Battle After Another"
Joachim Trier "Sentimental Value"
Ryan Coogler "Sinners"
Other Contenders - Josh Safdie "Marty Supreme", Park Chan-wook "No Other Choice", Guillermo Del Toro "Frankenstein", Kleber Mendonça Filho "The Secret Agent", Clint Bentley "Train Dreams", James Cameron "Avatar: Fire & Ash", Zach Cregger "Weapons", Noah Baumbach "Jay Kelly", Joseph Kosinski "F1: The Movie", Jon M. Chu "Wicked For Good", Bradley Cooper "Is This Thing On?"
Commentary - I moved Panahi over Safdie, just knowing the demographic of the Director's Branch. Watch out for Chan-wook and del Toro to jump ahead.
