Best of the Emmy Awards: Winners - Best Writing in a Drama Series

Winner - Terence Winter "The Sopranos - Long Term Parking"

Runners Up - The West Wing - In Excelsis Deo; L.A. Law - Blood, Sweat, and Tears

Commentary - I think that modern TV dramas are the best they have ever been, and a lot of them owe credit to the likes of The West Wing, The Sopranos, and other shows that started the new century off right. One of my favorite episodes of The Sopranos is Long Term Parking, a perfect episode that sums up why the show was such a success, why it is still today considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest television drama of all time. It is a twisted, violent, and visceral but also deeply emotional. I hated it in some ways, because it was (SPOILER ALERT) the end to one of my favorite character Adriana, brilliantly portrayed by the Drea de Mateo (who won an Emmy for this season), but also recoginzed how heartbreakingly brilliant it was. Definitely a classic.
