Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

My Predictions
Julie Bowen "Modern Family"
Jane Krakowski "30 Rock"
Jane Lynch "Glee"
Sofia Vergara "Modern Family"
Betty White "Hot in Cleveland"
Kristen Wiig "SNL"

Other Contenders - Wendie Malick "Hot in Cleveland", Jane Leeves "Hot in Cleveland", Valerie Bertinelli "Hot in Cleveland", Kathryn Joosten "Desperate Housewives", Vanessa Williams "Desperate Housewives", Holland Taylor "Two and a Half Men", Tamsin Greig "Episodes", Phyllis Somerville "The Big C", Jenna Fischer "The Office", Jane Adams "Hung", Swoosie Kurtz "Mike & Molly", Amy Ryan "The Office", Allison Janey "Mr. Sunshine", Rashida Jones "Parks & Recreation"

Commentary - In all seriousness, this is a seven horse race, with only six allowed across the finish line. Betty White and Jane Lynch are locked and loaded, and will most likely be the top two contenders for the winner's circle. The Modern Family women, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, are also back in the race, and could be dark horse contenders. Kristen Wiig has had a great summer with Bridesmaids, and has become a genuine movie star, meaning Emmys will once again love to include her in the mix. The final spot however is pretty tough. It is between two scene stealers, Jane Krakowski and Wendie Malick. I'm going with Jane, banking on their love of 30 Rock, but do not be surprised if the veteran Malick gets her name called on nomination morning.

  1. White, Bowen, Vergara, and Lynch are locks. Wiig will most likely get nominated (though I'm not sure she deserves it.) I really hope Krakowski doesn't get in. Her character on 30 rock is extremely annoying and one note.

I think Naya Rivera has a legitimate chance. If any voters actually watch Glee, that would know she better than Lynch at the funny and serious parts of that show.

    Who should actually be nominated:
    Julie Bowen
    Sofia Vergara
    Naya Rivera/ Heather Morris
    Allison Brie
    Aubrey Plaza
    Kaitlin Olsen

Having said that, one of the Modern Family ladies is going to win. Only chance of that not happening is if they split votes and Betty White wins (which would be ok.)

  2. I think if Naya Rivera submits the Landslide episode, and Heather Morris submits the Britney episode, they could both be contenders. While I think in terms of episode submission that the Modern Family gals will have the best shot, I think that the pure legendary status of Betty White may make her hard to beat come Emmy night.

  3. I like Betty White. I don't think she'll win though. With so many great performances in this category I don't think the voters will give it to a role that isn't very deserving (no offense Betty!) Both ladies from Modern Family would be good winners. I really think they are the only two that would be satisfying.

Having said that, there are like 15 other actresses I would love to see nominated: Allison Brie, Naya Rivera, Busy Phillips, Heather Morris, Kaitlin Olsen, Aubrey Plaza, Rashida Jones, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ellie Kemper...
