2012 Tony Predictions: Featured Actor in a Play

Will Win/Should Win - Andrew Garfield "Death of a Salesman"
Could Win - Christian Borle "Peter and the Starcatcher"
Commentary - This is a two horse race, and if you are listening to the pundits, it is literally a dead heat which could go either way. Both are excellent performances, but both are very different in terms of their paths to the Tony Awards. Neither have won, but Borle has been nominated several times, and can now be considered a stage veteran. Garfield is quickly becoming a huge star in Hollywood, and this summer has The Amazing Spiderman hitting theaters. This is his first Broadway role, so ff the voters go for the theater veteran then Borle will take the prize. But I think that Death of a Salesman is the more buzzed project, and the young, up and coming starpower of Garfield will be enough to push him over the edge and take the gold.
