2014 Emmy Predictions: Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series

Will Win - Allison Janney "Masters of Sex"

Should Win - Allison Janney "Masters of Sex"

Could Win - Kate Burton "Scandal" or Jane Fonda "The Newsroom"

Commentary - Allison Janney has had a hell of a year on television, and I think that she could easily walk away with two Emmys. But both of her races have some tough competition. First there is Kate Burton. She is a previous nominee, a Shonda Rhimes favorite, and has a knockout turn in this season of Scandal. I was not expecting her to even be nominated, especially with Lisa Kudrow from the same show. But once I re-watched her performance, I realized that she is a force to be reckoned with, and could easily win this award. Dan Bucatinsky's win last year proved that the actors panels are open to Scandal, and they give the big, bold performances that usually win Emmy Awards. The other one to watch for is Jane Fonda. She doesn't have a lot of screen time, but she is a legend, has a big scene that could easily cause her to triumph. All of that being said, I still think it is going to be Janney. Her arch on Masters of Sex has the emotional devastation and triumphant that will hit voters hearts, a place you want to hit if you want to win an Emmy.
