Commentary - What will it take for Amy Poehler to win an Emmy? Honestly, if she could win last year for the two-part wedding extravaganza, I don't know if she is ever going to win one of these things, at least not for Parks & Recreation, which honestly is freaking ridiculous. This year she has another great episode, and maybe this is the year that voters finally realize the mistakes they have made in the past, but I do think she is a third place. Melissa McCarthy surprised me when I finally sat down and watched this season of Mike & Molly. Overall, she had a great season, and her episode is pure Emmy bait. She shows a range of emotions, and honestly, it is a nice reminder that she is a full-fledged actress, not just a physical humor joke. She nails it with her pick this year, and another Emmy could be in the cards. But both of these women, while fantastic and deserving, will most likely have to sit back and watch Julia Louis-Dreyfus take home another Emmy. She had another great season on Veep, whose Emmy profile continues to rise season after season, and she is beloved by this industry. McCarthy and Poehler are significant threats, but I don't think either can topple the reigning queen of comedy.
