It occured to me that all this talk about who will be nominated, and never any thought of who could actually win this race. So here is my first shot in the dark at who I think will win at this point. This is of course is really an exercise in futility, as things can change at any moment, but still an interesting look at the race.

Good set of picks...the only thing I would pick differently at this point is The Descendants love in the main categories. I don't think The Descendants is hitting as well as everyone thought it would. I have heard a lot of people complaining that it was underwhelming. I think Best Picture will come down to The Artist and War Horse.
ReplyDeleteThose two are literally my number two and three. I think they all have faults or setbacks which complicates the race. I agree that The Descendants has its detractors. But War Horse will have to get over its sappiness, and The Artist its silence. So all three have their issues, which is why these picks are simly preliminary. I still think though that Clooney and the screenplay are solid right now, but Best Picture/Director are up in the air. Honestly I don't see Spielberg winning his third for War Horse (especially with Lincoln hot on its heels), so maybe this year we see a BP/BD split.
