4. Good Night, And Good Luck
5. Munich

The Next Five:
6. The Constant Gardener
7. A History of Violence
8. King Kong
9. Walk the Line
10. Match Point

Other Possibilities:
11. The Squid and the Whale
12. Pride & Prejudice
13. Hustle & Flow
14. Syriana
15. War of the Worlds
16. Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit

Commentary: Unlike the previous two years, filling out ten was much easier than expected. Two action/mystery movies that really scored big with critics were The Constant Gardener and A History of Violence, and I think the Academy would have followed in suite. King Kong was a huge, effects-driven blockbuster that was big with audiences and critics, and of course it had Peter Jackson at its helm. Walk the Line won the Golden Globe, and managed a Best Actress win for Reese Witherspoon, and many believed it to be the 6th place finisher. The final spot, in my opinion would have gone to a good Woody Allen movie that had a strong script and managed a Golden Globe nod in the process, Match Point.
