2018 Emmy Nomination Predictions - Best Comedy Series

2018 Nomination Predictions
Atlanta
black-ish
Curb Your Enthusiasm
GLOW
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Silicon Valley
Will & Grace

Other Contenders - Barry, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Modern Family, The Good Place, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Insecure, One Day at Time, Grace and Frankie, Mom, Arrested Development, Superstore

Commentary - I really think there 10 shows for seven slots. The three I'm leaving out? Modern Family, I think has run its Emmy course. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt's short season was nowhere near as good as previous seasons, and its nomination total has decreased every year. Finally, I think Barry, HBO's big new hit, is on the cusp. But I wonder if voters will go for more than just Bill Hader. So last year's returners Atlanta, black-ish, and Silicon Valley seem safe. If Kimmy Schimdt and Modern Family are out, and Master of None and Veep are not eligible, that leaves four slots. The returns of previous Emmy favorites Curb Your Enthusiasm and Will & Grace will inspire nostalgia. There are also two new shows I think will breakthrough. GLOW is on the bubble, but Netflix has spent a lot of money towards it, and its second season premiered right in the middle of Emmy voting, which was smart. And no matter what, there will definitely be a spot for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel who could sweep in a win on its first try. Beyond those ten, I don't see a big breakthrough from any particular show, although love for The Good Place, Insecure, and One Day at a Time would be refreshing.
