2018 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

2018 Nomination Predictions
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau "Game of Thrones"
Peter Dinklage "Game of Thrones"
Joseph Fiennes "The Handmaid's Tale"
David Harbour "Stranger Things"
Justin Hartley "This is Us"
Mandy Patinkin "Homeland"

Other Contenders - Noah Schapp "Stranger Things", Anthony Hopkins "Westworld", Brendan Fraser "Trust", Noah Emmerich "The Americans", Jon Voight "Ray Donovan", Matt Smith "The Crown", Asia Kate Dillon "Billions", Richard Schiff "The Good Doctor", James Marsden "Westworld", Zahn McClarnon "Westworld"

Commentary - Only two guys from last year will return, perennial favorite Mandy Patinkin, and Stranger Thing's David Harbor. Kelly and Banks were not eligible, Jones moved to Guest and Wright to Lead. So there is a lot of room for some new folks. Peter Dinklage should easily return, and I think this is the year that he finally brings along the well-overdue Nikolaj Coster-Waldau with him. This is Us is such an acting juggernaut, and I think Justin Hartley fills in the slot left by Jones. Finally, The Handmaid's Tale is set to do even better this time around, and there is finally room for Joseph Fiennes, who definitely earns his nomination, if he can do it. A lot of folks are banking on Noah Schapp, but kids have a hard time here, and he doesn't have the same buzz of his co-star Millie Bobby Brown. Previous nominees Anthony Hopkins and Jon Voight are also real possibilities. I really don't see anyone else in play, but I have to mention Fraser, Emmerich, Smith, Dillon, Schiff, and I wish Zahn McClarnon.
