2018 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

2018 Nomination Predictions
Alexis Bledel "The Handmaid's Tale"
Millie Bobby Brown "Stranger Things"
Ann Dowd "The Handmaid's Tale"
Lena Headey "Game of Thrones"
Chrissie Metz "This is Us"
Thandie Newton "Westworld"

Other Contenders - Maisie Williams "Game of Thrones", Margo Martindale "The Americans", Vanessa Kirby "The Crown", Yvonne Strahovski "The Handmaid's Tale", Sophie Turner "Game of Thrones", Holly Taylor "The Americans", Uzo Aduba "Orange is the New Black", Hilary Swank "Trust", Constance Zimmer "UnReal", Audra McDonald "The Good Fight", Tessa Thompson "Westworld"

Commentary - This race is starting to feel settled, which means something is bound to shake things up. I think Ann Dowd is safe to return, and could easily win a second Emmy. Last year's nominees Chrissy Metz, Thandie Newton, and Millie Bobby Brown all easily earned a chance for a return, and all three could challenge Dowd for the prize. Two years ago Lena Headey was predicted by many to potentially win. She had another deliciously evil season and should return. In the final slot, I am going with Alexis Bledel. She was in Guest last year and won. This year, she has been bumped up to Supporting, and if voters loved her last year, she should easily get enough support this year. But I am concerned about Maisie Williams and Margo Martindale. Margo has won for this character for literally drinking a cup of coffee in Guest and Maisie was nominated the last time she was eligible. Both could easily knock out one of the six. I also think Vanessa Kirby, Yvonne Strahovski, Sophie Turner, Holly Taylor, Tessa Thompson, and previous winners/nominees Uzo Aduba and Constance Zimmer are all possibilities as well.
