2018 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series

2018 Nomination Predictions
Alan Alda "The Good Fight"
Matthew Goode "The Crown"
Michael C. Hall "The Crown"
Ron Cephas Jones "This is Us"
Gerald McRaney "This is Us"
Peter Mullan "Westworld"

Other Contenders - Cameron Britton "Mindhunter", Jimmi Simpson "Westworld", Beau Bridges "Homeland", Sylvester Stallone "This is Us", F. Murray Abraham "Homeland", Common "The Chi", Denis O'Hare "The Good Fight", Richard Schiff "Counterpart"

Commentary - This category feels surprisingly weak compared to some of the other guest races, but that doesn't mean there are not plenty of possibilities. I feel confident that last year's winner Gerald McRaney will return, and his co-star Ron Cephas Jones, who was nominated in Supporting Actor last year will easily make the jump down to Guest. The Crown has two guys who I think will get in, Matthew Goode and Michael C. Hall. The Good Fight may not be as big of an Emmy magnet as The Good Wife, but I think that perennial favorite Alan Alda makes the cut. Finally, I am predicting that Westworld is going to do well this year, and previous nominee Peter Mullan has a hell of an episode that should earn him attention. Beyond those six, I would look out for Cameron Britton, who should be nominated, but is not as well known as some of the other contenders. Jimmi Simpson could join Mullan, Sylvester Stallone is a genuine movie star, Common and F. Murray Abraham are standouts, and don't discount past Emmy favorites Beau Bridges, Richard Schiff, and Denis O'Hare.
