Commentary - This is a tough category, so tough that I think three newcomers will knock out three of last year's nominees. We know a slot will be taken by Rachel Brosnahan, who looks like the front runner to win the whole thing. I also think that Emmy voters will make room for Alison Brie, who is a breakout for GLOW, and the return of Debra Messing. So who gets left out? I think Janney, Ross, and Tomlin, all Emmy favorites are safe. Adlon is on a small show with more competition this year, Kemper is suffering from a show with diminished buzz, and while Fonda got in last year, it took her several years to join her co-star. His makes them all vulnerable to drop out. I wish Issa Rae would get in, or Justina Machado, but there are too many folks ahead of them this time around. Also watch out for Shaw, Bell, and breakout Tiffany Haddish.
