2017 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

2017 Nomination Predictions
Anna Chlumsky "Veep"
Gaby Hoffman "Transparent"
Jane Krakowski "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt"
Judith Light "Transparent"
Kate McKinnon "Saturday Night Live"
Rita Moreno "One Day at a Time"

Other Contenders - Zazie Beetz "Atlanta", Mayim Bialik "The Big Bang Theory", Andrea Martin "Great News", Julie Bowen "Modern Family", Allison Williams "Girls", Zosia Mamet "Girls", Jemima Kirke "Girls", Carol Kane "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt", Leslie Jones "Saturday Night Live", Vanessa Bayer "Saturday Night Live", Cecily Strong "Saturday Night Live", Aidy Bryant "Saturday Night Live", Jenifer Lewis "black-ish", Yvonne Orji "Insecure", Amy Landecker "Transparent", Olivia Colman "Fleabag",  Kether Donohue "You're the Worst"

Commentary - Two contenders from last year are out. Niecy Nash's Get On ended, and Allison Janney has bumped herself up to lead. I think that the other four contenders from last year, the two Transparent contenders, Anna Chlumsky, and last year's winner Kate McKinnon all return. I also think that a year after missing out, that Jane Krakowski returns for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. That leaves one slot. Newcomers like Zazie Beetz and Yvonne Orji could ride the wave of their shows buzz. Julie Bowen and Mayim Bialik could return if voters remember how much they used to love picking them. The other gals from Saturday Night Live, particularly Leslie Jones, are in the mix, and the supporting cast of Girls had a great final season. Legends like Carol Kane and Andrea Martin should be in consideration, and outside choices like Olivia Colman and Kether Donohue could inspire some votes. But for the final slot, I am picking Emmy-winning legend Rita Moreno, who is awesome in the reboot of One Day At a Time. Netflix has been pushing the show a bit, and while the other races are stacked, this one provides the perfect opportunity for them to cash in on their Emmy hopes.
