Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Nicholas Braun "Succession"
Billy Crudup "The Morning Show"
Kieran Culkin "Succession"
Giancarlo Esposito "Better Call Saul"
Matthew Macfayen "Succession"
Alan Ruck "Succession"
Chris Sullivan "This is Us"
Oh-young Soo "Squid Game"
Other Contenders - John Turturro "Severance", Jonathan Banks "Better Call Saul", Eric Dane "Euphoria". Park Hae-soo "Squid Game", David Harbour "Stranger Things", Christopher Walken "Severance", Steve Carell "The Morning Show", Mark Duplass "The Morning Show"
Commentary - Yes, I am predicting that all four Succession guys make the cut. I think it is that strong going into Tuesday's announcement. Billy Crudup won this award, the last time he was eligible, so he should easily come back. Oh-young Soo won the Globe, and Squid Game is strong. Giancarlo Esposito almost always gets nominated. Finally, I am banking on the Chris Sullivan streak to continue for This is Us, an unpopular opinion among pundits. Jonathan Banks could get back in, as could Steve Carell, David Harbour, and Mark Duplass. If Squid Game is on a streak, watch out for Park Hae-soo. Also watch our for the legends Christopher Walken and John Turturro, and a breakthrough year for Eric Dane for Euphoria.
Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Patricia Arquette "Severance"
Millie Bobby Brown "Stranger Things"
Julia Garner "Ozark"
Jung Ho-yeon "Squid Game"
Christina Ricci "Yellowjackets"
Fiona Shaw "Killing Eve"
J. Smith-Cameron "Succession"
Sarah Snook "Succession"
Other Contenders - Julianna Margulies "The Morning Show", Rhea Seehorn "Better Call Saul", , Yuh-Junh Youn "Pachinko", Sadie Sink "Stranger Things", Sydney Sweeney "Euphoria", Kim Joo-ryoung "Squid Game", Sally Field "Winning Time", Nicola Coughlan "Bridgerton", Melissa McCarthy "Nine Perfect Strangers"
Commentary - Julia Garner could go 3/3, even though no one is predicting her. Sarah Snook is her biggest competition, but now has J. Cameron-Smith to split voters. Jung Ho-yeon will carry the Squid Game love (and could be joined by Joo-ryoung). Patricia Arquette is a favorite, as is Milly Bobby Brown for the massively popular season of Stranger Things. Finally, I moved Fiona Shaw back in, after not predicting her for two straight years, and I have Christina Ricci, assuming voters loved Yellowjackets. But that leaves out Oscar winner YJ, Emmy favorite Julianna Margulies, and the perennial nomination bridesmaid Rhea Seehorn. Sydney Sweeney had a hell of a season on Euphoria, Sadie Sink should be the Stranger Things nominee (or at least the first of the two), Nicola Couglhan is a breakout, and Sally Field and Melissa McCarthy are Emmy favorites.
