Best Actor in a Limited Series/TV Movie
Paul Bettany "A Very British Scandal"
Colin Firth "The Staircase"
Andrew Garfield "Under the Banner of Heaven"
Oscar Isaac "Scenes From a Marriage"
Samuel L. Jackson "The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey"
Michael Keaton "Dopesick"
Other Contenders - Ben Foster "The Survivor", Sebastian Stan "Pam & Tommy", Himesh Patel "Station Eleven", Jared Leto "WeCrashed", Oscar Isaac "Moon Knight", Sam Elliot "1883", Liev Schreiber "Ray Donovan: The Movie", David Thewlis "Landscaper"
Commentary - Ben Foster deserves a nomination, but is The Survivor strong? Can TV Movies make a comeback? I hope so for his sake. I am sticking with bigger projects and bigger names. Michael Keaton is leading this race for his fantastic role in Dopesick, and looks like he may cruise to his Emmy win. Andrew Garfield, fresh off his second Oscar nod, is sure to land a spot for Under the Banner of Heaven. But after that, I could see a combination of nods. I think Colin Firth is so well respected, that he is in. I think that Samuel L. Jackson gives a transformative performance in a decent series, and is fresh off of his Oscar win. I think Oscar Isaac has this and Moon Knight, and is on the radar. Finally, fresh off of his Emmy nod for WandaVision, Paul Bettany is on voters' minds. But, watch out for Foster, and for Sebastian Stan. I think Pam & Tommy might miss the mark with Emmy voters, but if it turns out they liked it, he could easily make the cut. Elliot is a legend, but has recent controversy. Also watch out for Thewlis, Oscar winner Jared Leto, and long time Emmy favorite Schreiber.
Best Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie
Jessica Chastain "Scenes from a Marriage"
Viola Davis "The First Lady"
Claire Foy "A Very British Scandal"
Margaret Qualley "MAID"
Julia Roberts "Gaslit"
Amanda Seyfried "The Dropout"
Other Contenders - Julia Garner "Inventing Anna", Lily James "Pam & Tommy", Gillian Anderson "The First Lady", Michelle Pfeiffer "The First Lady", Toni Collette "The Staircase", Anne Hathaway "WeCrashed", Renee Zellweger "The Thing About Pam", Elle Fanning "The Girl from Plainview", Isabel May "1883", Beanie Feldstein "Impeachment: American Crime Story", Sarah Paulson "Impeachment: American Crime Story", MacKenzie Davis "Station Eleven"
Commentary - A really competitive race, that will leave too many contenders on the outside looking in. I think this race is between Margaret Qualley and Amanda Seyfried, and it will be interesting to see that race play out. Beyond that, I think it is a complete toss up. So I am banking on the recent Oscar win of Jessica Chastain, the Emmy power of Viola Davis and Claire Foy, and the overall star power of the great Julia Roberts. But that leaves recent Emmy favorite Julia Garner out of the pack. Inventing Anna was not great, but she is popular. Lily James is jaw-dropping in a series that I don't think will catch on. I am really worried about the power duo of Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson. Even if The First Lady had a mixed reaction, these two women are powerhouses, and beloved by these voters. Also watch out for Zellweger, Hathaway, Faning, May, Feldstein, Davis, Paulson, and Collette.
