Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Michael Angarano "This is Us"
Charles Dance "The Crown"
Mark Hamill "The Mandalorian"
Timothy Olyphant "The Mandalorian"
Courtney B. Vance "Lovecraft Country"
Other Contenders - Patrick Dempsey "Grey's Anatomy", Don Cheadle "Falcon and the Winter Soldier", Tony Goldwyn "Lovecraft Country", Bill Burr "The Mandalorian", Carl Weathers "The Mandalorian"
Commentary - The Mandalorian has a good chance of single-handedly tripling its acting nods for last year, just cause of this category. Timothy Olyphant, I think, is a lock, and it will be nice to see him back in the Emmy race. I think the weakness of this category, and the love for The Crown will get Charles Dance a nomination. Courtney B. Vance is an Emmy favorite, and great in Lovecraft Country. Michael Angarano was recently nominated in this category, and I think the lack of competition will help him get back in this race. The last slot is interesting. I, despite personal problems with it, have put in Mark Hamill. I love Star Wars. I love Mark Hamill. But if he gets nominated, it is because of his personal popularity, not performance. Patrick Dempsey would be interesting, but voters have long moved on from Grey's. Don Cheadle might move into my predictions, just because they love them some Don Cheadle. Tony Goldwyn is great in Lovecraft, and if voters still want to reward The Mandalorian, they could choose Bill Burr or Carl Weathers instead.
Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Alexis Bledel "The Handmaid's Tale"
Rosario Dawson "The Mandalorian"
Claire Foy "The Crown"
Julia Louis-Dreyfus "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier"
Phylicia Rashad "This is Us"
Other Contenders - McKenna Grace "The Handmaid's Tale", Angelica Ross "Pose", Diana Rigg "All Creatures Great and Small", Amanda Brugel "The Handmaid's Tale", Ming-Na Wen "The Mandalorian", Regina Taylor "Lovecraft Country", Laura Weedman "Euphoria Special", Amy Sedaris "The Mandalorian"
Commentary - Alexis Bledel, who has bounced back and forth between Guest and Supporting, is looking at yet another Emmy nod, and possibly a win. Claire Foy is kind of like Mark Hamill here, where if she gets in, its because she's Claire Foy. Knowing these voters, I have included her in the mix. Same goes for Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Phylicia Rashad will get in despite the Cosby controversy, because that happened way after nomination voting ended, and she was nominated the last two years. Finally, Rosario Dawson plays a beloved Star Wars character, and The Mandalorian is hot right now. McKenna Grace and Amanda Brugel had great turns in this season of The Handmaid's Tale, and should knock out some of these name-check nominees. Angelica Ross is great in Pose, this is the last time to honor the great Diana Rigg, and Amy Sedaris, Ming-Na We, Regina Taylor, an Laura Weedman should not be discounted.
