Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/TV Movie
John Boyega "Small Axe"
Bill Camp "The Queen's Gambit"
Brendan Gleeson "The Comey Rule"
Evan Peters "Mare of Easttown"
Donald Sutherland "The Undoing"
Courtney B. Vance "Genius: Aretha"
Other Contenders - Daveed Diggs "Hamilton", William Jackson Harper "The Underground Railroad", , Thomas Brodie-Sangster "The Queen's Gambit", Paapa Essiedu "The May Destroy You", Shaun Parkes "Small Axe", Aaron Pierre "The Underground Railroad", Glynn Turman "Fargo", Ben Whishaw "Fargo", Guy Pearce "Mare of Easttown", Neil Patrick Harris "It's a Sin"
Commentary - I have a feeling that I am underestimating some of the newer contenders, but alas, I am going with safe bets. John Boyega won the Globe, and Bill Camp, Brendan Gleeson, and Donald Sutherland all did well in the winter awards. They are also big names with long pedigrees. Courtney B. Vance is a recent winner, and a standout in this season of Genius. Voters may want to return to an old favorite who continues to churn out excellent work. In the final slot, I am putting Evan Peters in, for what I hope will be his first, and way overdue Emmy nod for this excellent work in Mare of Easttown. But this race has a lot of wildcards. Last year's nominee for The Good Place, William Jackson Harper could ride the sudden influx of Underground Railroad praise. Daveed Diggs did get a SAG nod for Hamilton, but I wonder how these actors are going to do. A lot of folks are predicting them, and they are probably right. Thomas Brodie-Sangster could ride the Queen's Gambit wave, Glynn Turman has had a great year, Guy Pearce is a previous nominee, Ben Whishaw and Neil Patrick Harris are recent winners, and Aaron Pierre, Shaun Parkes, and the fantastic Paapa Essiedu could surprise.
Best Supporting Actress in a Limted Series/TV Movie
Kathryn Hahn "WandaVision"
Marielle Heller "The Queen's Gambit"
Julianne Nicholson "Mare of Easttown"
Weruche Opia "I May Destroy You"
Jean Smart "Mare of Easttown"
Letitia Wright "Small Axe"
Other Contenders - Renee Elise Goldsberry "Hamilton", Noma Dumezweni "The Undoing", Teyonah Parris "WandaVision", Jessie Buckley "Fargo", Phillippa Soo "Hamilton", Whoopi Goldberg "The Stand", Moses Ingram "The Queen's Gambit"
Commentary - Again, I want to put in Renee Elise Goldsberry, but I am hesitating on these Hamilton actors. In her place, I put Weruche Opia for I May Destroy You, a show I think is going to overperform with nods. Kathryn Hahn is a lock for WandaVision, and the front runner for the win. Marielle Heller and Jean Smart also feel like safe bets, and I also think Julianne Nicholson, Smart's co-star is getting close to being a lock as well, as her Emmy stock just continues to rise. Letitia Wright was fantastic in Small Axe, if her vaccine controversy doesn't scare voters away. That leaves Goldberry and Soo from Hamilton on the outside looking in. Also watch out for Dumezweni, Parris, Buckley, Ingram, and the legendary Whoopi Goldberg.
