2021 Emmy Nomination Predictions - Best Limited Series and Television Movie

Best Limited Series
I May Destroy You
Mare of Easttown
The Queen's Gambit
Small Axe
The Underground Railroad

Other Contenders - WandaVision, It's a Sin, The Undoing, Genius: Aretha, Fargo, Your Honor, A Teacher, Halston, The Good Lord Bird

Commentary - I May Destroy You is rising fast, Mare of Easttown was a late-breaking contender, and The Queen's Gambit has been the front runner for months now. It is those last two slots that feel up in the air. The Underground Railroad is rising fast in terms of Emmy buzz, I think it takes a slot. Small Axe was so good it was winning film awards last winter. It should easily get this slot, but it didn't do as well in the winter awards for television as I assumed it would. While I am still predicting it, its vulnerable. WandaVision is wildly popular, It's a Sin should be nominated, The Undoing has a flashy cast, and other projects like Genius: Aretha, Fargo, Your honor, A Teacher, Halston, and The Good Lord Bird all could snag major nominations, which puts them in a place to potentially upset in this category.

Best Television Movie
Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square
Oslo
Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia
Sylvie's Love
Uncle Frank

Other Contenders - Unpregnant, Honour, Clouds, 7500, Godmothered, Coastal Elites, Safety, Wendy Williams: The Movie

Commentary - Despite more contenders this year than last, this race is still a weak one. Sylvie's Love is the front runner because it is the only one with good reviews across the board. Dolly Parton is set to get in again after her Heartstrings film snagged a nod last year. Plus, Dolly is a legend and this feel-good film, while not that great, does spread joy and prove her raw star power is still going strong. Oslo and Uncle Frank have a lot of prestige people behind their productions, so expect them to make the cut, despite neither being critical favorites. The Robin Roberts Mahalia Jackson story definitely feels like it makes the top five. Despite hardly any critical notice (like seriously no reviews can be found, which is odd), it does have good user ratings and tells an important story. Beyond those five, I really have no idea. Which means at least one surprise is coming. Which film is going to surprise? It's anybody's guess in this odd race.
