2020 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Final Predictions - Best Guest Actor and Actress in a Drama Series

Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Jason Bateman "The Outsider"
James Cromwell "Succession"
Charles Dance "The Crown"
Ron Cephas Jones "This is Us"
Gerald McRaney "This is Us"
Andrew Scott "Black Mirror"

Other Contenders - Michael J. Fox "The Good Fight", Christopher Meloni "The Handmaid's Tale", Dean Norris "Better Call Saul", O-T Fagbenle "The Handmaid's Tale", Martin Short "The Morning Show", Beau Bridges "Homeland", Michael B. Jordan "Raising Dion", Sean Delaney "Killing Eve", Gary Cole "The Good Fight"

Commentary - I feel like five are locked, and I am just guessing for the sixth. I would not discount Jones and McRaney, who are both previous winners in this category. Charles Dance has a great role in The Crown, coming off of his Game of Thrones role. Andrew Scott was able to submit in Guest after the Television Academy made Black Mirror to Drama. James Cromwell did not get in last year, but Succession is on the rise, and he is a legend. Finally, I am predicting Jason Bateman. I don't think The Outsider is a slam dunk anywhere, but Bateman is hot, and I don't know who replaces him. Is it Fox, Meloni, Norris, Fabenle, Short, Bridges, Jordan, Delaney or Cole? All of these men are either previous nominees/winners or are on popular series. Guest categories are always unpredictable, and so anyone could upset.

Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Alexis Bledel "The Handmaid's Tale"
Laverne Cox "Orange is the New Black"
Cherry Jones "The Handmaid's Tale"
Jane Lapotaire "The Crown"
Phylicia Rashad "This is Us"
Cicely Tyson "How to Get Away With Murder"

Other Contenders - Cherry Jones "Succession", Pamela Adlon "This is Us", Julie Dretzin "The Handmaid's Tale", Mindy Kaling "The Morning Show", Julianna Margulies "Billions", Harriet Walker "Succession"

Commentary - So Bledel won this award, was nominated for Supporting, and is back in Guest. She is clearly beloved in this role. Cherry Jones won last year for The Handmaid's Tale. She also has Succession, but I think voters give her another nod for other former. Phylicia Rashad and Cicely Tyson were both nominated last year (and one of them should have won instead of Jones). I expect a repeat. Finally, I am predicting that Princess Alice, aka Jane Lapotaire, and her grandmotherly advice on The Crown will get her in the race, as well as last year's nominee Laverne Cox for the final season of Orange is the New Black. But Jones is lurking for Succession (will she cancel herself out?). Pamela Adlon is a real threat for This is Us. I would also look out for Kaling, Margulies, Dretzin, and Walker.
