2020 Emmy Nomination Predictions: Final Predictions - Best Competition Program and Best Reality Host

Best Competition Program
American Ninja Warrior
Nailed It!
RuPaul's Drag Race
Top Chef
The Voice

Other Contenders - The Masked Singer, Survivor, Making the Cut, America's Got Talent, LEGO Masters, Dancing With the Stars, Project Runway, Ellen's Game of Games, Making It, Hollywood Game Night, So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol

Commentary - Only five slots this year, due to the new scale. By the way, I could see the Variety and Reality folks rebelling after years of six, but we have to see how this one is going to play out. No Amazing Race this year, and the other five are still eligible. A lot of folks are predicting The Masked Singer, but they did last year, when it was new phenomenon, and it didn't get in. In fact it lost out to a relative upstart unknown, Nailed It! I say it happens again, especially in a category that has always struggled with turnover.

Best Reality Host
Ellen DeGeneres "Ellen's Game of Games"
Jane Lynch "Hollywood Game Night"
Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman "Making It"
Nicole Byer "Nailed It!"
The Queer Eye Guys "Queer Eye"
RuPaul Charles "RuPaul's Drag Race"

Other Contenders - Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn "Making the Cut", Melissa McCarthy "Little Big Shots" Jimmy Kimmel "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", Jeff Probst "Survivor", Keegan-Michael Key "Game On!", Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio "Top Chef", Carson Daly "The Voice"

Commentary - I feel confident with four former winners/nominees: Ellen, Jane, RuPaul, and Amy/Nick. In the other two categories, I am going with Queer Eye, which is incredibly popular, and upstart Nicole Byer, who would be a breath of fresh air in this category. But watch out for Emmy winners like Klum and Gunn, Melissa McCarthy, Jimmy Kimmel, Jeff Probst, Keegan-Michael Key, and of course the perennial hosts of The Voice and Top Chef.
