Well, the seven that I thought were in the lead remain their status: The Artist, The Descendants, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, and War Horse. As predicted, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo makes a splash, but I'm not sure it has enough steam for an Oscar nod. The Ides of March made a splash at the Globes and now here. Apparently it is not forgotten and could make a comeback. The real surprise is Bridesmaids. I know I predicted it, but still think it is incredible. While I still think it misses a Best Picture nod, its chances for McCarthy and the script are definitely on the rise. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Drive and The Tree of Life, who made a killing in the critics awards, will most likely be left out come Oscar morning, unless the DGA and WGA come through.
