Commentary - We have now seen Marty Supreme, and early word is that this is performance of Timothee Chalamet's career so far. Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic in One Battle After Another, and is owed a nod after his snub for Killers of the Flower Moon. Sinners seems to be holding strong, and I think Michael B. Jordan could finally get an Oscar nod. The last two slots are interesting. I am going out on a limb with some international contenders. Wagner Moura has made a splash stateside, and is getting raves for The Secret Agent. Same for Lee Byung-hun and No Other Choice. I am not confident, but some of the bigger contenders at the beginning of the season are questions marks going into the critics awards. Jeremy Allen White and Dwayne Johnson both got rave reviews for mixed review projects, and after The Smashing Machine bombed, I wonder how strong its awards chances are moving forward. Previous nominees/winners like Jesse Plemons, Ethan Hawke, George Clooney, Brendan Fraser, Hugh Jackman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Russell Crowe, Matthew McConaughey, Paul Mescal, Will Arnett, and Denzel Washington all have buzzed projects. Veterans like Joel Edgerton, Oscar Isaac, Channing Tatum, and Dylan O'Brien could breakthrough, and watch out for a surprise from the likes of Tonatiuh and Guillaume Marbeck.
