The Oscar Narrative: Final Oscar Predictions - Best Production Design, Best Sound Mixing and Sound Editing

Best Production Design
Will Win - Mad Max: Fury Road
Could Win - Bridge of Spies, The Martian, The Revenant
Should Win - The Revenant could win in a sweep, The Martian is a feat, and Bridge of Spies  could pull off a Lincoln-type upset. But I think this is Mad Max: Fury Road's to lose. George Miller and his brilliant team created this vile, hot, and brilliant world in a stylistic way that defies reason. I will be surprised if anything upsets.

Best Sound Mixing
Will Win - The Revenant
Could Win - Mad Max: Fury Road or Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Should Win - Mad Max: Fury Road
Commentary - This was Mad Max's to lose. Then The Revenant won the CAS and the BAFTA, and suddenly the tables are turned. I think that The Revenant is in for a big night, including Best Picture, and as a technical achievement is poised to take more than just Cinematography. This is still a tight race, but the tides have turned in favor of The Revenant here, and I think it upsets.

Best Sound Editing
Will Win - The Revenant
Could Win - Mad Max: Fury Road or Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Should Win - Mad Max: Fury Road
Commentary - This category seems to be the same with Sound Mixing if there is no musical. I think that if The Revenant wins Mixing, it wins here as well. That also goes for Mad Max, if it wins one, it will probably win the other.

  1. I really don't understand where is the production design's work in "The Revenant".
