2016 Grammy Predictions: Visual Media and Music Video

Best Compilation Soundtrack - Visual Media
Will Win - Empire: Season 1
Could Win - Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me and Fifty Shades of Grey
Should Win - Empire: Season 1
Commentary - Glen Campbell could inspire some sympathy, but Empire was the big hit of the year, and all of its original songs feel like a safe bet. Also, don't discount Fifty Shades of Grey. The movie was terrible, but the soundtrack was pretty fantastic.

Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media
Will Win - Antonio Sanchez "Birdman"
Could Win - Alexandre Desplat "The Imitation Game"
Should Win - Antonio Sanchez "Birdman"
Commentary - Desplat could win a Grammy, after just winning an Oscar, but I think that Oscar-snubbed Antonio Sanchez will win for his inventive drum score. Maybe the music branch of the Oscars didn't quite "get it", but I think Grammy voters will.

Best Song Written for Visual Media
Will Win - Andrew Cedar, Justin Franks, Charles Puth & Cameron Thomaz "See You Again" from Furious 7
Could Win - John Legend and Common "Glory"
Should Win - John Legend and Common "Glory"
Commentary - I thought this one was a slam dunk for Grammy favorites John Legend and Common. They won the Oscar, it is an awesome song. Then See You Again missed that Oscar nod despite a lot of campaigning. But these are different voting bodies, and See You Again got a nod for Song of the Year showing more support overall.

Best Music Video
Will Win - Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar "Bad Blood"
Could Win - Kendrick Lamar "Alright"
Should Win - Bad Blood
Commentary - There is a reason this was the Video of the Year at the VMAs, and will probably pull the same feat at the Grammys. It is a clever, high quality music video with the top two stars at this years Grammys. Seems almost too easy to predict.

Best Music Film
Will Win - Amy
Could Win - Sonic Highways or What Happened, Miss Simone?
Should Win - Amy
Commentary - Amy is on a roll for awards this year, and I would be surprised if it didn't continue its streak here. But Sonic Highways was an Emmy favorite, and What Happened, Miss Simone? also got an Oscar nod, so this race is a not a done deal.
