The Oscar Narrative: Final Predictions - Best Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Production Design

Best Cinematography
Will Win - Hoyte Van Hoytema "Oppenheimer"
Could Win - Rodrigo Prieto "Killers of the Flower Moon" and Robbie Ryan "Poor Things"
Should Win - Hoyte Van Hoytema "Oppenheimer"
Commentary - Hoyte Van Hoytema can add Oscar Winner to his resume after winning BAFTA and ASC.

Best Costume Design
Will Win - Poor Things
Could Win - Barbie
Should Win - Barbie
Commentary - I don't know how you pass up Barbie here, and it could easily win, as it probably represents the "most" costumes, which often wins. But Poor Things won at CDG (so did Barbie), then broke the tie at BAFTA. I also think it wins Production Design, which can often overlap.

Best Film Editing
Will Win - Oppenheimer
Could Win - Poor Things or Anatomy of a Fall
Should Win - Anatomy of a Fall
Commentary - Oppenheimer has been racking up wins with BAFTA and the ACE Eddie on its side. But watch out for Anatomy of a Fall. This is a category that has had its share of surprises over the years, and this could be another one.

Best Makeup and Hairstyling
Will Win - Poor Things
Could Win - Maestro
Should Win - Poor Things or Maestro
Commentary - Maestro has been the obvious choice for awhile, but after Poor Things pulled an upset at BAFTA, I have it winning here. It is a bit of a risky choice, and I'm fully prepared to eat crow, but I think that Poor Things is more well-liked across the board, and its makeup work is as bold as Maestro's.

Best Production Design
Will Win - Poor Things
Could Win - Barbie
Should Win - Barbie
Commentary - Barbie was out front, but after winning at ADG and BAFTA, it looks like Poor Things has taken the lead. I still think a Barbie upset is possible here and in costume design, as the bigger Academy votes.
