Bradley Cooper "Maestro"
Leonardo DiCaprio "Killers of the Flower Moon"
Paul Giamatti "The Holdovers"
Cillian Murphy "Oppenheimer"
Jeffrey Wright "American Fiction"
Other Contenders - Colman Domingo "Rustin", Matt Damon "Air", Andrew Scott "All of Us Strangers", Anthony Hopkins "Freud's Last Session", Adam Driver "Ferrari", Joaquin Phoenix "Napoleon", Christian Friedel "The Zone of Interest", Zac Efron "The Iron Claw", Austin Butler "The Bikeriders", Jamie Foxx "The Burial", Gael García Bernal "Cassandro", Barry Keoghan "Saltburn", David Strathairn "A Littler Prayer", Michael Fassbender "The Killer", Kôji Yakusho "Perfect Days", Tee Yoo "Past Lives"
Commentary - Jeffrey Wright leads the People's Choice Winner at Toronto, American Fiction, which is a great precursor for Oscar strength. Plus, "hardworking actor with tons of great roles under his belt finally gets an Oscar nod", is a great narrative. Cillian Murphy remains strong for Oppenheimer, as do previous nominees/winners Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio. I also think that Paul Giamatti, an underrated and under-rewarded actor, will make the cut. Beyond those five, Colman Domingo is getting great reviews for Rustin (the film is mixed), Matt Damon is great in Air, Andrew Scot should not be discounted, and don't forget previous nominees/winners Anthony Hopkins, Joaquin Phoenix, Adama Driver, Austin Butler, Jamie Foxx, Michael Fassbender, Barry Keoghan, and David Strathairn. Finally watch out for Tee Yoo, Kôji Yakusho, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Christian Friedel to breakthrough.
