2020 Emmy Predictions: Best Directing and Writing in a Limited Series/TV Movie

Best Directing in a Limited Series/TV Movie
Will Win - Lynn Shelton "Little Fires Everywhere - Find a Way"
Could Win - Lenny Abrahamson "Normal People - Episode 5", Stephen Williams "Watchmen - This Extraordinary Being", Nicole Kassell "It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice"
Should Win - Stephen Williams "Watchmen - This Extraordinary Being"
Commentary - With three episodes from Watchmen up for the Emmy, it brings me back to The People vs. O.J. Simpson, where they lost to another show because they split the votes. Stephen Williams should easily win this award for This Extraordinary Being, and I think that Watchmen may be strong enough to overcome that vote splitting. But, I am going with the late-great Lynn Shelton. She recently passed away, Little Fires Everywhere was well-received among Emmy voters, and it would be a nice way to recognize a hard-working television director who left us too soon.

Best Writing in a Limited Series/TV Movie
Will Win - Damon Lindelof and Cord Jefferson "Watchmen - This Extraordinary Being"
Could Win - Tanya Barfield "Mrs. America - Shirley"
Should Win  - Damon Lindelof and Cord Jefferson "Watchmen - This Extraordinary Being"
Commentary - Without all that internal competition, I expect Watchmen to win here. If anyone can upet it is probably Mrs. America which is the other biggest contender among these nominees (and was not nominated for directing, where it could have been the one that benefited from the split). That being said, if Watchmen doesn't win this, it is a travesty.
