Commentary - Two contenders have emerged as known quantities that will be hard for Oscar voters to emerge. Anthony Hopkins and Delroy Lindo have already cemented their status in this race. A third contender, Gary Oldman, feels like he will be a lock soon. In my last two slots, I am going with two younger, potentially first time nominees in Riz Ahmed (who is an Emmy winner) and Kingsley Ben-Adir, both with beloved breakthrough performances that are garnering a lot of buzz. But there are a lot of big names left in this category. There are plenty of previous Oscar nominees and winners like Tom Hanks, Daniel Kaluuya, Dev Patel, Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck, Liam Neeson, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy, and Louis Gossett Jr. There are also a lot of young and upcoming talents that are hoping to breakthrough such as Trevante Rhodes, Steve Yeun, Tom Holland, John David Washington, Gabriel Basso, Jesse Plemmons, and Pete Davidson.
