Commentary - RuPaul has won this category back to back years, and these Reality voters love repeats, so I expect him to once again take home an Emmy, and a well-deserved one at that. But this year is interesting, and could produce a surprise winner. Jane Lynch and the Project Runway duo are both previous winners in this category, and could inspire Emmy voters again. But I actually think the other two nominees are more likely to potentially upset. United Shades of America just won the Unstructured Reality Series prize last year, and is definitely a show that captures the current political and cultural zeitgeist. W. Kamau Bell could surprise. Finally, we should never count out Ellen DeGeneres. She is a Primetime Emmy winner already, and has enough Daytime Emmys to fill a stadium. She is one of those entertainers that can win awards simply for being on a ballot.
