2021 Emmy Predictions: Best Actor and Actress in a Drama and Comedy Series

Best Actor in a Drama Series
Will Win  - Josh O'Connor "The Crown"
Could Win - Billy Porter "Pose"
Should Win - O'Connor and Porter
Commentary - This is one I might switch before tomorrow. I just feel like the Billy Porter train is moving fast into the station. But I also think that voters really love The Crown, and Josh O'Connor was magnificent this season. It is a tight race, but I am picking the stronger Best Drama Series contender to win out.

Best Actress in a Drama Series
Will Win - Emma Corrin "The Crown"
Could Win - MJ Rodriguez "Pose", Elisabeth Moss "The Handmaid's Tale", or Olivia Colman "The Crown"
Should Win - Emma Corrin "The Crown"
Commentary - Emma Corrin has dominated this season. I expect she will continue her streak. But this race is not as of a foregone conclusion as some think. MJ Rodriguez would be an historical win, and voters love those moments. Elisabeth Moss is always a favorite, and this season of The Handmaid's Tale got renewed praise. Finally, Olivia Colman can not be discounted. She is an Oscar winner, and is also fantastic in The Crown.

Best Actor in a Comedy Series
Will Win - Jason Sudeikis "Ted Lasso"
Could Win - Anthony Anderson "black-ish" or Michael Douglas "The Kominsky Method"
Should Win - Jason Sudeikis "Ted Lasso"
Commentary - Anthony Anderson will probably never win for black-ish, which kind of stinks, and Michael Douglas is well-liked. But Jason Sudeikis is so far out in front, he can't see the contenders behind him. He also is easily the best of the bunch.

Best Actress in a Comedy Series
Will Win - Jean Smart "Hacks"
Could Win - Kaley Cuoco "The Flight Attendant"
Should Win - Smart or Cuoco
Commentary - Kaley Cuoco was out front for a while, but then the legendary Jean Smart came blazing through with Hacks, which ended up being a much stronger contender overall compared to the muted response for The Flight Attendant. Either could win, either win would be great. But this is Smart's to lose.
