Commentary -KPop Demon Hunter missing the BAFTA longlists is an interesting twist as the guilds start to weigh in on the race. I'm still predicting it to make the top five, and it could easily just be a blip on the road to Oscar victory. Zootopia 2 is the one to watch as it was such a huge box office success. Little Amelie, Arco, and Elio have done well on the circuit, but I am watching out for Demon Slayer as a real spoiler for either Arco or Elio

Other Contenders - Seeds, Apocalypse in the Tropics, Mr. Nobody against Putin, My Undesirable Friends: Part 1 – Last Air in Moscow, Come See Me in the Good Light
Commentary - This race seems to continue to offer surprises, so I am weary of these predictions. The Perfect Neighbor is the critics favorite. The Alabama Solution and 2000 Meters to Andriivka have had a lot of support. Cover-Up is from an Oscar-winning Laura Poitras, and it is great. Finally, I am predicting a surprise with Cutting Through Rocks, with the international contingency coming through. But I am still concerned about some of the others on the shortlist. Seeds is another international contender, Apocalypse in the Tropics is popular, Mr. Nobody and My Undesirable Friends are timely, and Come See Me in the Good Light is the heartbeat of the bunch.

Commentary - Another category with lots of potential upsets. For example, I think that there is an obvious five, but I have heard constantly that The Voice of Hind Rajab is really popular. So who misses out? Unfortunately I think it could be No Other Choice which has just not done as well as I thought it would this season. I still have IWJAA, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, and Sirat in the mix. I also think that Left-Handed Girl, Sound of Falling, Kokuho, and Palestine 36 could surprise.

Other Contenders - Sentimental Value, Frankenstein, Sirat, The Secret Agent, Wicked: For Good
Commentary - This category is a toss-up, with no precedent. I am going with the top four BP contenders Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle, and Sinners. The last slot is interesting. Frankenstein and Sentimental Value are probably the fifth and sixth slots for BP and both have great casts. Wicked is a spoiler, despite its decline, and if Sirat or The Secret Agent get it, it could show real strength. I am going with Weapons. It is hard to cast children, and to pick a veteran like Amy Madigan to excel. I think voters will recognize that effort.
