Best Revival of a Musical
Will Win - Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Could Win - The other two.
Commentary - Apparently, Sutton Foster is amazing as always in Violet, and Les Miserables is still a wonder to watch on the stage. But every review, prediction, and pundit agrees that this year's revival will go to Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It has an incredible amount of buzz, more nominations than its two competitors, and has the showstopping performance from Neil Patrick Harris. I think it is a shoo-in for Tony gold.
Best Revival of a Play
Will Win - Twelfth Night
Could Win - The Glass Menagerie
Commentary - This is one of the toughest races to call going into Sunday's Tonys. The Glass Menagerie revival finally has gotten widespread recognition from the American Theater Wing with a total of seven Tony nominations, it finally stands a chance to actually win some Tony Awards, something other versions of the production have never managed to do. But Twelfth Night also earned seven Tony nods, has a litany of talented performers, and I think that the curse will stand intact as it squeaks out a Tony victory.
