Commentary - This is an fantastic four way race for the Emmy. The Globe winner Maggie Gyllenhaal vs. the explosive/stunning Emmy/Oscar nominee Queen Latifah vs. the legends Jessica Lange vs. Frances McDormand. At this point, I am definitely not ready to pick a winner, how do you choose? But that leaves two slots. I think Emmy-winner Felicity Huffman is a shoo-in, as she is popular, and American Crime is probably going to do well. Finally, I think Frances O'Connor, for The Missing, a series that could be a dark horse nominee in a lot of categories will round out the top six. This seems set. Emma Thompson and Helena Bonham Carter are possibilities, Aunjanue Ellis should bump out someone for a slot and has a CCTA nod to prove it. And while Grace of Monaco is a certified disaster, never discount the power of Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman. But I think these six feel right. Which definitely means that there is someone out there lurking in the wings to upset the predictable. The question is: Who? As always, we'll have to wait and see.
