12 Years a Slave Trailer
Steve McQueen's first two big films, Hunger and Shame, dealt with uncomfortable matters and were brutal to say the least. This is probably why they did not do well come Oscar nomination morning. But I think that he may have finally found his breakout hit in 12 Years a Slave. There is still definitely some of his early tone and aesthetic, but McQueen has definitely added more heart, power, and emotion, at least from what I can see in this trailer. I think that the subject matter, the incredible cast (honestly didn't know that some of these people were in it), and the buzz makes this film a contender. See for yourself below:
