Commentary - I am glad that the Television Academy decided to reinstate the supporting categories for TV Movies/Miniseries, because in both there are a plethora of talented performances. I think the actual Emmy win will come down to Sarah Paulson, who is magnificent in AHS:A, and Holly Hunter, who is also great, and has an illustrious history with the Emmys, most of which came in these categories (seven nominations and two wins). Beyond that though there is still some stiff competiton. Ellen Burstyn and Alfre Woodard both had stand out turns in Political Animals and Steel Magnolias respectively. It doesn't hurt that both are beloved by the Television Academy, Burstyn has 1 emmy out of five nominations, and Woodard has a stunning sixteen nominations with four Emmy wins. Expect both of them to easily make the cut. The last slot has some stiff competition including a nominee from last year Frances Conroy, the legendary Phylicia Rashad, a plethora of talented British actreses Janet McTeer, Miranda Richardson, Charlotte Ramplin, and Michelle Dockery, Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe, and Burstyn's co-star Carla Gugino. But I think that the terrifying antics of Sister Mary Eunice, which only got more shocking and more sly as the season went on, will be enough to give the underrated Lily Rabe her first Emmy nomination.
