Best R&B Performance
Will Win - H.E.R. feat. Bryson Tiller "Could've Been"
Could Win - Lizzo feat. Gucci Mane "Exactly How I Feel"
Should Win - Lizzo feat. Gucci Mane "Exactly How I Feel"
Commentary - Both H.E.R. and Lizzo are so popular, each scoring in the General categories as well. Lizzo has several other chances to win without H.E.R. in the mix. I think that H.E.R. is not going to walk away empty handed, and this is good place to reward her.
Best Traditional R&B Performance
Will Win - Lizzo "Jerome"
Could Win - PJ Morton feat. Jazmine Sullivan "Built for Love" or India.Arie "Steady Love"
Should Win - Lizzo "Jerome"
Commentary - While Jerome does have an old school feel, there is nothing traditional about Lizzo. She has the most nominations of the bunch, and is the biggest current star. If voters though are looking for more traditional artists to reward, look of Indie.Arie or the combination of PJ Morton and Jazmine Sullivan.
Best R&B Song
Will Win - Could've Been (H.E.R. feat. Bryson Tiller)
Could Win - Roll Some Mo (Lucky Daye)
Should Win - Could've Been (H.E.R. feat. Bryson Tiller)
Commentary - No matter what happens in R&B Performance, there is a good chance that H.E.R. still wins another Grammy. None of the other nominee have the star power or Grammy love that she has.
Best R&B Album
Will Win - Anderson. Paak "Ventura"
Could Win - Ella Mai "Ella Mai"
Should Win - Anderson .Paak "Ventura"
Commentary - Both Anderson .Paak and Ella Mai won Grammys last year in performance/song categories. I think Paak, who had more nominations overall, and managed to get into Best New Artist a few years ago, will win in a close one.
Best Urban Contemporary Album
Will Win - Lizzo "Cuz I Love You"
Could Win - Jessie Reyez "Being Human in Public"
Should Win - Lizzo "Cuz I Love You"
Commentary - This should be an easy one for Lizzo, as she is the only one that is nominated for Album of the Year, and the most recognizable of the bunch.
