Cannes 2019: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Lands with Major Oscar Buzz
So the big one we've all been waiting for finally landed yesterday at Cannes. Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a late entry into Cannes, and it ended up being one its biggest hits. So far, Metacritic has his latest sitting at a really nice 89. Even the film's critics still have it ranked pretty high, and still give it positive ratings. Those that love it praise it as a masterpiece, perfect Tarantino, well acted, impeccably written, and his beloved crazy, unstructured style. The great Anne Thompson, whose word and Oscar saavy I trust above most pundits has already declared it a major Oscar contender. It is Tarantino, plus Hollywood, plus mega star-power. Tarantino has delivered another hit, and will be in the awards conversation as it picks up in a few months.
