Best Pop Vocal Album
Will Win - Taylor Swift "1989"
Could Win - Kelly Clarkson "Piece By Piece" or Mark Ronson "Uptown Special"
Should Win - Florence + The Machine "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful"
Commentary - Kelly Clarkson has upset here before, but this album is not getting the kind of support as the last one. Mark Ronson is a potential, but the rest of Uptown Special failed to meet the high mark set by Uptown Funk. And if I had a vote, Florence would win this by a mile. But this is Taylor Swift's to lose. She has lost a genre album category despite an Album of the Year nomination before, but I don't think that will happen twice.
Best Pop Solo Performance
Will Win - Taylor Swift "Blank Space"
Could Win - Ed Sheeran "Thinking Out Loud" or The Weeknd "Can't Feel My Face"
Should Win - Taylor Swift "Blank Space"
Commentary - Blank Space feels like the winner here, but I am really looking at that Ed Sheeran upset. He has yet to win a Grammy Award, and they clearly love this song. I'll leave Taylor there for now, but am seriously considering a switch.
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
Will Win - Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars "Uptown Funk"
Could Win - Taylor Swift feat. Kendrick Lamar "Bad Blood"
Should Win - Florence + The Machine "Ship to Wreck"
Commentary - Once again, Florence should easily win this award. But, alas stars are not aligned for them, and this is a battle of the dynamic duos. Uptown Funk is up for general awards, so it is the front runner. But a chance to honor the two biggest nominees of the night at the same time? Might be hard to pass up.
Best Traditional Pop Album
Will Win - Tony Bennett and Bill Charlap "The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern"
Could Win - Bob Dylan "Shadows in the Night"
Should Win - Bob Dylan "Shadows in the Night"
Commentary - In the battle between Grammy legends, I am sticking with Bennett in this category, because he has dominated this category for years.
