Runner Up - Dianne Wiest "Hannah and Her Sisters", Jessica Lange "Tootsie", and Hattie McDaniel "Gone With the Wind
Commentary - I went two different ways on this one, for two very distinct reasons. First, Ruth Gordon's performance in Rosemary's Baby is simply electrifying. So on the merit of the performance, she wins (although her career as a whole is fantastic as well). However, in terms of the career, Ingrid Bergman is one of the greatest actresses of all time, it is more about the career than this particular performance (Although once again, she is great in the film). So two trajectories equals two winners. And once again, I am sorry for not being able to pick just one (Only one other category will have a tie, the rest are straighforward).
