Winner - Some Like It Hot
Runner Up - West Side Story and Star Wars
Commentary - I know what you are thinking, of all the great movie costumes, Some Like It Hot doesn't necessarily pop into your mind, compared to say Gone With the Wind. But of the winners of Costume Design, that movie title popped out to me. Dressing Marilyn up in all those outfits, and cross dressing the guys was a central part of one of the greatest, if not the greatest comedies ever put on the screen. For that it deserves this honor.

Winner - The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Runner Up - Planet of the Apes
Commentary - The Lord of the Rings had to create digitally literally thousands of characters. But its makeup designers also had to have intricate work done without all the help of computers. Just looking at the orcs, you can tell that the makeup designers of the Lord of Rings helped to create a vibrant and realistic Middle Earth.
