Best Action Performance
Will Win - Ryan Reynolds "Deadpool"
Could Win - Jennifer Lawrence "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" or Chris Pratt "Jurassic World" or John Boyega "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"
Should Win - Ryan Reynolds "Deadpool"
Commentary - Deadpool is not going away empty-handed, and this feels like the perfect place. Boyega could ride the Star Wars wave, and Lawrence and Pratt are extremely popular, but Deadpool is hot right now at the box office, and with this new generation, what is trending on Twitter probably will catch their vote versus the overall set of nominees.
Best Comedic Performance
Will Win - Ryan Reynolds "Deadpool"
Could Win - Amy Schumer "Trainwreck" or Melissa McCarthy "Spy"
Should Win - Amy Schumer "Trainwreck" or Melissa McCarthy "Spy"
Commentary - I think Ryan Reynolds is great in Deadpool, but this should be a race between McCarthy and Schumer. Luckily McCarthy is getting the Comedic Genius Award, so this should be Schumer's moment. Hopefully MTV voters are smart enough to see that. But probably not.
Best Breakthrough Performance
Will Win - Daisy Ridley "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"
Could Win - Amy Schumer "Trainwreck", John Boyega "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" or O'Shea Jackson Jr. "Straight Outta Compton"
Should Win - Daisy Ridley "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"
Commentary - Brie Larson and Amy Schumer have been around for a while, and while I get that both had their big breakthrough films this year, it feels a bit insulting. I think this is Daisy Ridley's to lose, and honestly, no one had a bigger breakthrough than she did.
