Best Featured Actor in a Musical
Will Win - Andy Karl "On the Twentieth Century"
Could Win - Christian Borle "Something Rotten" or Brad Oscar "Something Rotten"
Commentary - Andy Karl was nominated last year for Rocky, and I think he is going to win his first Tony, on his second try for On the Twentieth Century opposite Peter Gallagher and Kristin Chenoweth. He managed to be a standout despite two dominating leads, and already has made a name for himself on Broadway. But if anyone can beat him it is the duo from Something Rotten. Brad Oscar is a two-time nominee that has yet to win, and Christian Borle is a recent winner for Peter and the Starcatcher. Borle probably has the higher profile of the two, with several television and film roles of note, but I think both will split the Something Rotten vote giving it to Karl.
Best Featured Actress in a Musical
Will Win - Judy Kuhn "Fun Home"
Could Win - Sydney Lucas "Fun Home" or Ruthie Ann Miles "An American in Paris"
Commentary - An interesting race that is pitting co-stars against one another, leading to a potential dark horse. Of the two from Fun Home, I am leaning toward Judy Kuhn, a veteran stage actress, who is on her fourth nomination with zero Tony wins. But if the Fun Home votes split, watch out for Ruthie Ann Miles in the Best Musical front runner, An American in Paris.
