I love the Oscars, but I also enjoy that in the midst of all the chaos, there is also a nice break to look at television and potential Emmy contenders as well. This year's television nominations look a lot like the Emmy nods. None of the big new shows like Masters of Sex or Orange is the New Black made the cut. Instead, the standards in both categories did well. Of course on the Drama side, you throw in Mad Men, and you probably have next year's lineup (which was this year's lineup). On the Comedy side though, 30 Rock and Arrested Development will be replaced (Girls and Louie probably), still leaving a potential new contender for the Emmys. Of course it is too early to start talking about Emmys, but like I said, it is always nice to take an Oscar break, especially after what has seemed like a marathon day.
