Harvey Gears Up for 2014 Oscars

The Weinstein Co. has printed its scheduled release dates for its many projects coming up through the year. It could still pick up some contenders, but it already has a good many projects with Oscar prospects.

The Sapphires - March 22nd
Kon-Tiki - April 19th
Unfinished Song - June 21st
Populaire - July 19th
Haute Cuisine - August 16th
Satanic - August 30th
Fruitvale - October 18th
August: Osage County - November 18th
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom - Novermber 29th
Grace of Monaco - December 27th
The last four are particularly important for the Oscar race. Fruitvale, the Sundance hit, will probably hit Venice/Telluride/Toronto before its release date, bringing Oscar buzz, particularly to its two stars Octavia Spencer and Michael B. Jordan. August: Osage County is a beloved play, and with names like Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper, Abigail Breslin, and Juliette Lewis, it is bound to be in the conversation. Let's just hope it doesn't go the awards way of Carnage. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and Grace of Monaco will probably be big players in the acting race, as we all know that the Academy loves biopics, and loves actors who transform themselves into a famous figure. So both Naomi Watts and Idris Elba will probably be players in this year's race.
